Sampling CDs - Drone Archeology, Technical Notes

Drone Archeology Pitch Information for GigaSampler CD Rom Format

Most of the drone tones on these two CD Rom formats have the unity pitch raised two octaves. For example an GigaSampler will not playback a Drone tone at the pitch listed in the user manual as G1 (49Hz) when midi note G1 (31) is triggered by a keyboard or midi sequencer. The original pitch will be heard when midi note G3 (C4=middle C=60) is triggered. The reason for this was so that drone tones could playback much lower pitches than the original pitch without resorting to extremely low midi notes. The only exception to this procedure were the following tracks:

Track 13 Tropical Moisture A3=unity up 3 octaves

Track 21 Tropical Rainforest A3=unity up 3 octaves

Track 27 Human Alienation C5=unity up 1 octave

Track 35 Massive Fusion Reaction E3=unity up 3 octaves

Track 43 Ultra High Temperatures C5=unity up 1 octave

Track 56 Wasteland E3=unity up 3 octaves

Samples : Example 1 (390k), Example 2 (325k)

GigaSampler Examples

GigaSampler Demo Files. These drone are in GigaSampler format. These files are for demo purposes and no license is granted. All Rights are Reserved. The drone are looped and each about 10 seconds long. The original versions are 30-60 seconds long.

WindHum Wave 425 k

Inner Strength 361k

TampuraDrone Track 8 166K original 35 seconds long

Because the drones are very long looped tones playing chords results in very rich changing timbre, here are two examples:

Track 27 Human Alienation A minor chord 729k
